Why this site

One question keeps coming up: why ask for an account to read the full pieces and listen to the podcasts, when everything looks free?

I work on AI at the level where it gets concrete. Architectures, inference, Rust, assembly when it is needed. I write what I wish I had read. And I measure it so it can be reproduced. It takes time. A lot of it.

This site has two goals:

The first is to prepare courses. Real, technical ones, on what I practice every day. The blog and the watch are a taste of it. If what I publish is useful to you, the courses will be far more so.

I have already run several. They went really well. I took two things from them. First, teaching a group with very uneven levels is hard: you lose some or you bore the others. Second, there is not that much training out there at the high level, at least the one I practice. And after those sessions, the demand to go further, toward more advanced topics, was clear.

The second goal is to fund my research work. Running models locally, optimising inference, digging into architectures, that takes hardware, compute and above all time I do not spend elsewhere. The free account and the newsletter let me keep in touch with the people it interests. The courses, later, will fund the rest.

In practice, for you: the account is free, the newsletter is free and you can unsubscribe whenever you want. In return, I just ask you to let me know you are there. That is what makes this project sustainable.

Your data will never leave. No list reselling, no sharing, nothing. It is a matter of integrity. I am far too attached to my freedom to stand that.

It is also why I put so much care into this site, to the point of going beyond what the GDPR asks. No tracker by default. Nothing loads until you have said yes. For now, it is not even switched on. I made a dedicated page that explains all of it. Even if you refuse to be tracked, you can read everything. The only thing that stays necessary is signing up, because that is what lets me keep in touch. It is not the part I enjoy most, but you have to be pragmatic.

Advertising is not on the table either, not in the short or medium term. I do not rule it out entirely, but it would have to make sense. And honestly, I am not even sure I will draw enough people to claim it. If I ever start making videos, they will probably live here, but that is far from certain and I am not set on it. Quite the opposite: if I can keep a decent standard of living otherwise, I will do without. This is not about getting rich. It is about funding my work, that is all.

I am well aware that signing up has a cost, even with nothing asked in return. A moral cost, the one of leaving your address. So in exchange, I feel I owe you things. The podcasts are one. There will be others: snippets of code, deeper explanations of the techniques I put in place.
